25-27 March 2024 - S4 Excursion

The fruitful excursion students have been looking forward to ended with a perfect full-stop. This year, the S4 excursion was a team-building camp held from 25th to 27th March 2024 at Pak Lap, Sai Kung. The camp aimed to provide students with learning opportunities beyond the classroom, igniting their passion for sustainability and environmental protection, allowing them to gain skills and knowledge in outdoor adventure, acquiring effective ways to communicate with others, and to train self-independence and confidence.

My class started by visiting the beautiful and culturally significant locations dotted around Pak Lap and High Island, learning about sea water filtration, and investigating their pH values. After dinner, we set out for a night hike, which was an extraordinary learning experience and brought endless laughs among everyone. We arrived at the High Island Reservoir, which was indeed splendid, with the water reflecting the silver orb suspended in the navy sky. We then returned to our dorms and tents safe and sound.

My most challenging activity in the three days was rock climbing, as we had to conquer our fear while climbing on natural rocks with no clear trails. Some of us were reluctant to try it, while some students proactively encouraged each other to step out of their comfort zones; Eventually, every single one of us succeeded with our determination and perseverance. Though we got slightly bruised and slashed at the end, the climb proved undeniably worth it. We also enjoyed the Eco and Geo tour, which nourished our knowledge of the natural world, and the bonfire evening in which we shared stories, songs, and laughter, creating lasting memories in the company of friends. We ended the day with the precious experience of outdoor camping and tent setup.

The smiles and skills that we brought back home from this trip were truly invaluable, and it may be only once in a lifetime. Time flies, but memories don’t. We are glad to have enjoyed this flourishing programme in our secondary school life.
