15 October 2024 - S4 Life Simulation Game

On 15 October 2024, all S4 students had a fantastic time at the Life Simulation Game, organised by the Methodist Centre along with the Career & Life Planning Committee. I must say, it took me by surprise. Knowing that it was a game, I thought it would just be another light and easy time of fun. Yet this game held so much meaning and significance that it’s an experience everyone, regardless of age, should go through. 

Students were encouraged to dream big and set personal goals in different areas of life, like going to college, choosing a career, thinking about marriage, travelling, saving money, and helping the community. Through a series of fun activities, students learned the idea of "No pain, no gain," helping them understand the importance of being smart with money.  

Participants played games that made learning about finances exciting and enjoyable. These activities not only grabbed their attention but also got them thinking about how to earn, save, and spend money wisely. By diving into these hands-on experiences, students picked up valuable lessons about making good financial choices. I joked, “I lost all my money studying for university—haha!” The two-hour activity was filled with colourful booths and stations in the hall and classrooms, where students could explore their future dreams. 

After the simulation, friendly staff and teachers at the workshop guided small group chats. These discussions helped everyone think about their choices and appreciate the different paths people take in life. 

Overall, the workshop was a super meaningful experience! Students learned more about what matters to them and got step-by-step tips on setting their life and career goals. Most importantly, they felt inspired to tackle challenges with a positive attitude and a growth mindset as they chase their dreams. 

It was a wonderful mix of fun and learning!
