24 October 2023 - History Club Field Trip 1 - Stanley Military Cemetery

24 Oct 2023
Academic

Never would I have expected that we would be going to a cemetery for a history trip, and that was exactly what Mr. Thomas Ma did on 24th October (Tuesday), bringing us senior form students to visit the Stanley Military Cemetery. From the graves, we learned about the historical battles of Hong Kong battling Japan in WW2, with soldiers coming from Canada, India, Britain and Chinese to fight for Hong Kong. Based on the details of the stone graves themselves, we were able to deduce how funerals and burials were like for soldiers, which often having to rush the process due to the heat of the battles at the time. Nevertheless, it has been a memorable experience for most of us, and least to say, may those brave soldiers who fought for Hong Kong rest in peace.
