18 October 2024 - HKUGAC University Fair 2024

18 Oct 2024
Career & Life Planning

One of the highly-anticipated events organised by the Careers and Life Planning Committee is the annual University Fair, which took place on 18th October in the main hall. Hotly attended each year, the fair offered an excellent opportunity for both parents and students to connect with representatives from universities around the globe, aiding them in planning their crucial futures.

Representatives from the UK, Australia, Canada, Switzerland, Japan, and the United States, along with several esteemed institutions from Hong Kong, were present throughout the evening, with over 30 enthusiastic ambassadors from leading international universities offering firsthand information about the wide array of programs available at their booths. Attendees valued the opportunity to take home current brochures and pamphlets, but the representatives’ insights and guidance on making informed program choices and understanding application processes were especially beneficial.

In conjunction with the information booths, parallel seminars were conducted in various classrooms and the activity center, each lasting 20 minutes. The engaging discussions allowed universities to highlight their strengths and distinctive offerings, helping students identify which educational institutions aligned best with their skills, talents, and interests. Given that many students consider local universities as reliable options for further education, these presentations proved to be extremely popular!

As the time for making post-graduation choices approaches, the Career and Life Planning Committee provides essential support to students and parents during their final years of schooling. Since this event was open to the broader community, numerous students and parents from different schools also benefited from the evening's activities, leaving with a wealth of new information to ponder. In summary, the fair saw a steady flow of attendees, lively knowledge exchange, and a warm, community-focused atmosphere.
