16 November 2021 - Inauguration Ceremony of Student Leaders
The Inauguration Ceremony on 16th November 2021 marked the official beginning of our student leaders’ duties and contributions to HKUGA College. To maintain social distance, students from S1 and S4-6 attended the ceremony in the Amphitheatre, while S2-3 students watched the live broadcast of the ceremony in their homerooms.
The Inauguration began with the march in of both the incoming and outgoing student leaders, followed by the flag-raising ceremony. The former Student Council Vice-President, Kan Davis, and the former Head Prefect, Nicolas Kwok, were invited to go on stage and give their insightful speeches. They shared their challenging yet rewarding leadership experiences, showed their appreciation to those who supported them, and encouraged the new student body to embrace their leadership roles. They also expressed their sincere gratitude to the school, teachers, and fellow schoolmates for their unconditional support.
Our Principal, Ms Corina Chen presented Certificates of Appreciation to all former student leaders and recognized their effort in serving our community last year. Five major student leadership teams include the Student Council, the Prefect Board, the House Committee, the Peer Counsellors, and the Charity Leaders. Our Assistant Principal, Mr. Steven Hindes, then talked about some essential qualities that define great leadership. As our student leaders volunteer their time to give and serve with joyful hearts, our school becomes a better place and learning community. To acknowledge the effort of all student leaders, Mr. Hindes led the crowd to rise and give them another round of applause.
With support and blessings from different parties, the incoming student leaders received their badges from the Principal. “Leadership is not a path of privilege, but is a responsibility and a desire to serve.” Although there will be unforeseeable challenges, the students believe that obstacles are stepping stones to success. They held their heads up and read aloud the pledge with confidence.
